Staying Healthy

Get Healthy – Stay Healthy!

You can do it – and we are here to help!

Getting healthy and staying healthy are a few do-able steps away. There are things you can do each and every day that will put you on the path to better health – while helping you feel better, look better, and give you the energy you need to get through your busy days!

1. Quit smoking. If you smoke, there is no doubt about it: stopping is the most important thing you can do for your health. We know it’s hard, but you don’t have to do it alone. Let us help.

2. Watch your weight. Fit into those jeans and reduce your risk of cancer at the same time! If you’re trying to drop a few pounds, start by watching your portion sizes and adding more activity throughout your day. Check out our tools and practical tips to help get you started.

3. Get active. Run, jump, play, walk – find something you enjoy doing and keep doing it! Be active for at least 30 minutes 5 or more days per week, and see your energy levels rise, your stress levels go down, and your health improve. We each have 1440 minutes every day – try to find time to be active for at least 30 of those! Check out the Great American Get Active web site for some fun and easy ways live a more physically active lifestyle.

4. Eat your way to better health. Add some color and pizzazz to your plate with more fruits and vegetables. Go for whole grain breads, pastas, cereal. For some easy and delicious ways to eat better each day, visit the Great American Eat Right Challenge web site.

5. Know what tests you need. Take the Great American Health Check, an on-line assessment that helps you understand which cancer early detection tests you should take to find cancer early when treatment is more likely to be successful, or to prevent cancer altogether.

6. Limit your alcohol intake, if you drink at all. Ladies – no more than one drink per day. Men – no more than two.

Living well, staying well – it’s important to you, and it’s important to us. Following these healthy tips above will set you on the path to better health. Why not get started right now?
